It means doing abhyanga a specific pressure and in pratiloma direction, i.e. from below upwards. It is two types - Snigdha and Ruksha.
Types of Udvartana
Snigdha Udvartana is an Ayurvedic therapy involving a gentle massage with herbal powders mixed with oil. It exfoliates the skin, improves circulation, and deeply moisturizes, promoting a healthy, radiant complexion.
Ruksha
Raksha Udvartana is also called as Churnodvartana. It is indicated in obesity and helps in cleaning the skin and is also a beauty treatment which exfoliates the dead skin and nourishes the healthy skin tissue.
